Char's Horror Corner posted this about a week ago and I finally got around to doing it. At first I thought, no way can I come up with 15 just off the top of my head... but when I was done I was like, I think I have way more!
Most of these I read as a teenager, which might be why they came into my head first. I have re-read so many of these throughout the years, many that are on my list to re-read for my 2014 challenge because I've neglected them for newer authors for too long. I've also added the books that go with the authors, not every book these authors have written have influenced my tastes in reading or writing... sometimes all it takes is one great book! These aren't in any particular order, just the order in which they popped into my head.
And others who probably should be in the above list but they came after 15 in memory recall (>_<)... H.G. Wells, Philip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, Margaret Atwood, Jane Austen, Fritz Leiber, Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, William S. Burroughs, Kurt Vonnegut, Shirley Jackson, John Saul and not to forget childhood favourites like L. Frank Baum, C. S. Lewis, and Lewis Carroll. There are so many others I know I'm forgetting... T_T *I didn't check name spellings so I hope I got them all down right... for a minute there I had Brandon Sanderson as Brian.... oooops*
I think I'll be using this list as my checklist for books I want to review here on BookLikes since I get overwhelmed just at the thought of adding all the books I've read to my bookshelf here... my GR shelves are such a mucked up mess I fear the import function.
Side Note...disclaimer?: I've had a killer migraine that feels like brain freeze or an ice pick going at it between my eyes for a couple days. I forgot to hit the post button... whatever I wrote above might not make sense which should be a real laugh later when my brains have their act together. ;)
Anne Rice is on this list and I was just thinking about how much I loathe this woman right now. She is on the list because from 13-16 I read everything she had published and was a big fan. It wouldn't be truthful to say that her writing hasn't influenced my own in a big way. So yeah, I loaded my blog just now and was thinking about blacking out her book in protest.... her comments on her facebook page have really hurt and angered me. It's absolutely disgusting how she dismisses people there and has said that people who don't want to post with their real names don't -have- to write reviews. People who have legitimate reasons not to post their real names are the ones no one, NO ONE, should be asking to remain silent.
